Ollie Watkins' late strike earned Aston Villa a dramatic 2-2 draw against Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday. The Villans had cruised to a two-goal lead through Ezri Konsa and Moussa Diaby, but Brentford pulled level in the second half through goals from Yoane Wissa and Vitaly Janelt.
Villa, who remain 11th in the table, appeared to be heading for a comfortable victory after first-half goals from Konsa and Diaby. Konsa opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a header from Douglas Luiz's corner, while Diaby doubled the lead just seven minutes later with a clinical finish from the edge of the area.
However, Brentford fought back with two goals in the space of five minutes to level the scores. Wissa pulled one back in the 55th minute with a close-range finish after Ivan Toney's shot had been saved, and Janelt equalized in the 60th minute with a powerful header from Christian Norgaard's cross.
Villa pushed hard for a winner in the closing stages, and they were eventually rewarded when Watkins fired home from close range in the 89th minute to snatch a point. The result leaves Brentford in 14th place, four points above the relegation zone.
