Manchester City thrash Manchester United 4-1 in derby clash
De Bruyne and Mahrez score two each as City dominate at the Etihad
Manchester City secured a comfortable 4-1 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday, with Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez scoring two goals each.
City's dominance
City were in control from the start and took the lead after just five minutes when De Bruyne finished off a fine move. Mahrez doubled the lead just before half-time with a stunning strike from outside the box.
De Bruyne made it 3-0 early in the second half with a penalty and Mahrez completed the rout with his second goal 20 minutes from time.
United's misery
United were poor throughout and rarely threatened City's goal. Marcus Rashford pulled a goal back in the 84th minute, but it was nothing more than a consolation.
The result leaves City second in the Premier League table, five points behind Arsenal, while United are seventh.
Head-to-head
Manchester United lead the overall head-to-head record between these two teams with 78 wins to Manchester City's 60. There have also been 53 draws.
However, Manchester City have won the last four meetings between the two sides.
